What has the John Lewis Advert got to do with Dogs?
Nov 14, 2019Have you seen the new Christmas Advert from John Lewis and Partners with Excitable Edgar the fire-breathing dragon?
Well, it got us thinking about how we work with Reactive Dogs.
When we put our stressed or fearful dogs in the wrong environment or context, then they are likely to blow. While Excitable Edgar's energy is one of fun - his reaction to the exciting situations he's put in isn't appropriate.
But just like Edgar, when we give our dogs the right job in the right environment - setting them up for success - then they can use their energy/emotions in the right way.
We're sure we don't need to mention this - but never tie your dog's muzzle shut!
If you'd like to learn more about how you can helpyour reactive dog or those you work with - then come and join us for our next installment in the Barket Place Webinar Series on Wednesday 20th November at 7 pm. Caroline Wilkinson will be discussing the areas of fear and anger - and how these emotions can play into a dog’s on-lead reactions. She'll also be providing you with examples of ways you can practically help to support your dog – and yourself – creating better connections to support a change in your dog’s emotions.
We hope to see you there! If you can't join us live, you'll get a free replay after the webinar has aired.
